This page explains the fields and features for the song entry page.

Like

Rating a song adds it to your song collection (rated songs): https://vocadb.net/Profile/{username}/songs

The song entry page statistics for “favorite(s) and like(s)” will include your username, unless the “Allow everyone to see my song and album ratings.” -setting is disabled. All of the ratings will stay visible for moderators, and for anyone who visits your rated songs through your profile page.

Liking a song increases its score by 2.

Favorite

Favoriting a song increases its score by 3.

Add to custom list

The song can be added to a new or existing song list with this button.

Personal lists

All of the custom lists by the user are displayed: https://vocadb.net/Profile/{username}/lists

The “description” -field refers to the song list song notes, not the song list description.

Trusted users can add new songs to the featured songlists

New list

New list name can safely be a duplicate, since song lists are saved by song list ids.

Edit

The “Edit” -button opens the edit-page for the song entry.

View modifications

The “View modifications” -button opens the version history for the song entry: https://vocadb.net/Song/Versions/{artist_id}

The version history table uses 5 columns: Version, Created, Author, Changes, Notes.

The specific version can be viewed when clicking one of the version numbers in the Version-column:

The version page has two user actions available (four for moderators).

Revert to this version (moderators)

  • Reverts the song entry to this version. Used for countering vandalism and fixing edit mistakes.

Download XML

  • Downloads the version information in XML format.

Report an error

  • Reports the specific entry version. Using this, a notification will be sent to the relevant editor.

Hide this version (moderators)

  • Hides the specific entry version. The version link will still be visible on the entry history -page, but the link will be inaccessible to users that are not moderators.

Report an error

Creates an entry report and adds it to the entry report -list that is visible to trusted users and above.

For songs, five report types are available. The notes -field is required for report types 1, 2 & 5.

1. Broken PV

Used for reporting deleted or privated PVs.

This report type communicates that a PV needs to be marked as Unavailable or deleted if the link type is “Reprint” or “Other”. If possible, prefer doing it yourself instead of creating an entry report.

Keep in mind that if the PV is region blocked, it should not be marked as unavailable.

2. Invalid or missing information

Used for reporting

  • invalid or incorrect information
    • Always provide reasoning and proofs unless already obvious.
  • missing information
    • A missing artist credit for example. If possible, always prefer adding the information yourself instead of leaving a report.

3. Duplicate entry

Song entry is a duplicate and should be merged. A link to the duplicate song entry is required along with proof.

4. Inappropriate content

For song entries that do not belong to VocaDB.

5. Other (specify in notes)

Maintenance actions

These are available only to the moderators.

Refresh artist string

Generates a new artist string: “Rollin’ Girl wowaka feat. Hatsune Miku (Original song)“

Useful in cases where the artist name has been changed.

Refresh thumbnail

Refresh the song thumbnail based on the existing PV links.

Refresh PV metadata

Refreshes the PV metadata (Name, Length, Date, Author).

Visible data

Fields that are empty or unavailable will not be visible.

tab: Basic info

The fields from the basic info -tab on the edit-page are displayed here along with some additional sections.

Name

  • The first line shows the name based on the “Preferred display language” - user setting.

  • The other primary names and aliases are shown on the second line.

Song artists

Song artists are listed as four different sections.

On each section, artists are listed alphabetically, and the supporting artists are listed at the end enclosed within parentheses.

The same artist can be listed in multiple sections.

Vocalists

Vocalists of the entry. Artist that belong to the category “Vocalist” (10 artist types) or credited with the “Vocalist” role.

Producers

Producers of the entry. Artists that belong to the category “Producer” (artist types “Music producer” & “cover Artists”) or credited with any of the roles “Arranger”, “Composer” or “Voice manipulator”.

Animators

Animators of the entry. Artists with the artist type “Animation producer” or credited with the role “Animator”.

Other artists

All the other artist types and roles.

Type

Song type of the song.

Duration

Duration of the song.

Language(s)

Language(s) of the song.

BPM

BPM of the song.

Albums

Album entries in which the song is included in.

Tags

Four most voted tags are displayed by default. The “Show all” -button displays all of the tags grouped by the tag category.

One or two buttons (depending on the user group) are displayed next to the tags:

  1. Edit tags

Existing tags are shown as blue boxes. The box highlighting (orange) can be toggled by clicking.

Your tag votes will be added to the highlighted tags when clicking “Save”.

Tag suggestions (max 3) are automatically displayed based on multiple sources:

  • Mapped Niconico tags
  • short version, if the song is 30 seconds longer than the original version.
  • instrumental, if the (original) song has no vocalists.

Always verify the specific tag usage guidelines. All tags have an option of hiding them from suggestions.

You can remove tags that you added yourself by removing your tag vote (toggling the highlight). Tags with 0 votes are removed when clicking “Save”.

The entry tags are displayed as a table with columns Tag, Count, Votes (Visible to moderators only), Date.

Tags can be removed by any trusted user, regardless who added and voted for the tag.

Pools and song lists

Song lists that include this song entry.

Only the pools are visible by default. Rest of the song lists can be viewed in a small window/dialog, when the “View all lists (x)” is clicked.

Original media

Original media/PV links of the song.

Other media

Media/PV links that are Reprint or Other.

External links of the song entry that are “Official” or “Commercial”.

External links that are “Reference” or “Other”.

Original version

Original version of the song.

Alternate versions

Song entries that have this entry set as the “Original version”.

Description

The song entry description truncated to the first ~~400 characters. If longer than this, a “Show full description” -button is provided.

The English translation (if available) is shown by default, regardless of user language preferences.

Statistics

The following statistics are included:

”F favorite(s), L like(s), H hit(s) T total score"

"Song ratings” for the entry (opened by clicking the “F favorite(s) L like(s)”) lists the users who have rated the song and whose ratings are public.

Hidden ratings are included in the score.

Release event

Release event(s) of the song.

If the song publish date is outside the event date range by more than 7 days, the difference is displayed with “(x days)” where x is the amount of days to the event start (or end) date:

”(+10 days)”: Event starts in 10 days, song published 10 days earlier than the event start date.

”(-12 days)”: Event ended 12 days ago, song published 12 days later than the event end date.

Published

Publish date of the song. Displayed based on the user setting “Date and number formatting”.

Addition date

Artist’s personal description

For artist’s personal introduction of the entry. Unlike the description field, this is considered a subjective opinion, possibly written in first person, and may include a limited amount of “marketing speech”. For entries with multiple involved artists, only one description may be provided, but whenever possible the circle/group can be selected as the author.

Latest comments

Section for leaving new comments. The latest 3 comments are shown.

As with the entry description, GitHub-flavored Markdown is supported for formatting.

Usernames prepended with the symbol @ will get notified when the comment is sent.

Always follow the discussion rules. Any comments can be edited and removed by Moderators.

Lyrics of the song.

tab: Discussion

All entry comments split to pages consisting of 10 comments.

Related songs split to 3 sections: Matching artists, likes and tags.

Each section has 12 songs listed, which are not duplicated between the other sections.

tab: Share

Includes a link to the song entry and a second one with markdown.

Code for iframe-embed is also included along with some social media share links.
